Acknowledgement of Country
The Taroona Environment Network meets and works on the land of the muwinina people, the original custodians. We lament that they no longer live with us to share their stories and wisdom. We acknowledge and celebrate the palawa people, today’s Tasmanian Aboriginal community who have survived colonisation. We pay our respects to their elders past and present as we work to restore the land and foreshore that sustained them for millennia.

Who we are…
The Taroona Environment Network is a local volunteer Landcare group founded by Dr. Ralph Chapman in 1997. We work to protect and restore the biodiversity of Taroona's foreshore.
Equally as important as the practical land care, is TEN’s environmental education and advocacy work, providing information and resources about Taroona’s biodiversity and promoting awareness of environmental issues, from low flammability gardens to climate change.
Our landcare work is endorsed by Kingborough Council's Bushcare Unit and Landcare Tasmania.

What we do…
All of our work is done by our keen volunteers and includes:
Monthly working bees to maintain over twenty work sites, where we plant, weed and remove rubbish.
Organising community events to foster environmental awareness and engagement.
Partnering with our local schools and other community groups in the protection and restoration of Taroona’s biodiversity.
Developing online information and resources.
